S1 E8 - Lainy Malkani talks to sculptor and 3-D artist Carl Gabriel

I’m Lainy Malkani and welcome to the Social History Hub Podcast.

Every week I’ll be exploring the nature of social history and what it means to us today with an exciting line up of artists, entrepreneurs, academics and writers. They’ll share their stories and relive the moments and events that inspired them.

Coming up...sculptor and 3-D artist Carl Gabriel. His incredible larger than life wire structures have captured the eyes of internationally renowned institutions such as the Science Museum and the V&A home to the largest collection of decorative arts.

This week, I spoke to acclaimed international artist and sculptor, Carl Gabriel, about creating wire sculptures that reflect the rich heritage of the Notting Hill Carnival and London’s diverse communities.

Next time on the Social History Hub podcast I’ll be talking to Liz Smale, as she recollects an extraordinary campaign to improve housing for homeless families over thirty years ago. That’s next time on the Social History Hub podcast, join me if you can.
