S1 E7 - Lainy Malkani talks to photographer Milan Svanderlik about his new exhibition ‘Outsiders In London’

I’m Lainy Malkani and welcome to the Social History Hub Podcast.

Every week I’ll be exploring the nature of social history and what it means to us today with an exciting line up of artists, entrepreneurs, academics and writers. They’ll share their stories and relive the moments and events that inspired them.

Coming up...a departure from our usual podcast as we explore a new photographic exhibition called 'Outsiders In London'. It’s inspired by Czech-born photographer, Milan Svanderlik whose own story of living life on the outside began with his family’s expulsion from Czechoslovakia following Communist rule.

This week, I spoke to renowned photographer, Milan Svanderlik, about why he’s fascinated by the personal stories of Londoners who feel on the outside of society and why he chose photography as a means to tell their story.
